The program, which was allocated nearly $800 million in taxpayer money, has faced criticism for its slow progress and mismanagement. As of now, 1,279 applicants are still in the process, with some at preconstruction or active construction stages.

On Thursday, a North Carolina Office of Recovery and Resiliency [NCORR] spokesperson said the state has returned 3,037 families to “safer, more resilient homes” through the ReBuild NC program.
