App exposes worst of U.S. military housing | National
SUMMARY: The Hots&Cots app allows U.S. service members to anonymously report poor living and dining conditions in military barracks, showcasing issues like mold, pests, and broken utilities. Founded by veteran Rob Evans, the app emerged after a 2023 Government Accountability Office report highlighted severe housing problems, including rodent infestations and inadequate fire safety, affecting military readiness. While Pentagon officials have vowed improvements, Evans argues not enough progress has been made. Lawmakers emphasize that funding exists but is not used efficiently. The Department of Defense recently launched a feedback system to enhance housing transparency and address these pressing concerns.

Water main break that caused disruptions in south east Atlanta is fixed
SUMMARY: The Atlanta Watershed has announced that crews have repaired a water main break caused by a private contractor at the intersection of Myy Avenue and Jonesboro Road. The incident, which occurred yesterday, affected numerous homes and disrupted operations at four schools. The damaged 24-inch water line should no longer pose issues. Residents may experience air in the line or discolored water post-repair, which is normal. To remedy this, they are advised to run cold water at each faucet, starting from the lowest levels of their homes and moving upwards, until the water is clear.
