Tropics update: 2 systems in Atlantic, Caribbean being watched by National Hurricane Center
SUMMARY: Meteorologists are monitoring two areas of potential tropical development in the tropics. One in the southwest Caribbean has a 30% chance of development, while the other has a 60% chance. Despite the higher percentage, the latter faces challenges due to surrounding dry air, making conditions unfavorable for growth. Both systems are expected to move toward the Leeward Islands, with a possibility of a tropical depression forming within the week. However, uncertainty remains regarding potential impacts on the U.S. as the situation evolves. Continued observation is essential as conditions change.
A system in the central Atlantic has a 60% chance of developing into a tropical depression by week’s end, while a low-pressure area in the Western Caribbean has a 30% chance of forming later this week.

Report says cap on Florida highway landscaping spending needed | Florida
SUMMARY: Florida lawmakers may need to consider capping highway landscaping spending, which exceeded $200 million last fiscal year, according to a Florida Taxwatch report. The organization suggests implementing a tiered pricing system or a cap similar to Texas‘ regulations, emphasizing the oddity of a minimum spending threshold without an upper limit. Additionally, a review of the state‘s highway maintenance rating program is recommended to better protect taxpayer funds. Spending on highway landscaping has risen significantly, driven by increased transportation funding and major infrastructure projects, leading to a 37% increase in landscaping costs since 2014-15.
