SUMMARY: There has been no tropical activity recently, marking the first such period since August 26. September and early October were notably busy, even after a quiet August, which typically sees more storms. So far this year, there have been 15 named storms, 10 hurricanes, and 4 major hurricanes, slightly below the forecasted range for named storms. Hurricane season lasts until the end of November, and historical data shows an average of one tropical storm or hurricane in November. Since 2000, there have been 18 hurricanes in this month. While further activity is possible, major hurricanes are less likely.

The 2024 Atlantic hurricane season has been active, with an above-average number of tropical storms and hurricanes. The season is calming down, but there is still more than a month to go before hurricane season is over.
