Tropics forecast: Florida braces for tropical storm, hurricane threat
SUMMARY: The Fox 35 Storm Team is monitoring potential Tropical Cyclone 9, which is expected to strengthen into a tropical storm tonight and could become a hurricane by midweek, possibly reaching Category 2 status due to warm Gulf waters and minimal wind shear. The storm is moving north at 6 mph, with landfall likely in the Florida Panhandle around late Thursday. Areas in Central Florida could experience severe weather, including strong winds, heavy rain (2-4 inches), and tornado threats. Residents are advised to prepare emergency supplies and stay tuned for updates as the situation develops.
