Tropical Storm Sara update: System to dissipate over Mexico, eliminating Florida threat
SUMMARY: The weekend weather in Florida is expected to be pleasant as a cold front brings cool temperatures and clear skies. Currently, tropical storm Sarah is causing catastrophic flooding in Honduras, with up to four feet of rain leading to mudslides and potential loss of life. Sarah will dissipate by early next week, bringing remnants and rain to Florida but in a less severe form. Wednesday may see some heavy storms, warranting a weather impact day. Overall, conditions will improve with humidity dropping and temperatures around 70-80 degrees, marking the end of hurricane season for Florida.
Tropical Storm Sara is expected to bring dangerous, life-threatening flooding, rainfall, and potentially mudslides to parts of Central America over the next several days. It’s then expected to dissipate as it approaches the Gulf of Mexico, though the remnants will bring some rainy weather to Florida next week.

Winter Haven city officials vote to remove fluoride from water supply
SUMMARY: Winter Haven city leaders voted 3-2 to end the addition of fluoride to the water supply, a practice that began in 1986. Commissioner Brad Danler cited a recent federal court ruling that mandated the EPA to strengthen fluoride regulations, highlighting potential health risks, particularly for children. Concerns expressed by residents included possible impacts on IQ, immune systems, and bone health. Some medical professionals warned that ending fluoridation could disproportionately affect low-income families lacking access to alternative fluoride sources. Danler proposed reallocating the $48,000 currently spent on fluoridation to support charities providing fluoride products for disadvantaged children. Fluoride removal is expected by January 1st.
Fluoridation of the City of Winter Haven’s water supply started in 1986 but that is about to change. City commissioners voted 3-2 to stop adding fluoride to the water.
