Tropical Storm Francine forms off Mexico, aiming for the Louisiana coast
SUMMARY: Tropical Storm Francine formed off Mexico’s coast and is expected to bring heavy rain to the Texas coast, with possible amounts reaching up to a foot. The storm is projected to strengthen into a hurricane before making landfall in Louisiana on Wednesday night. As of Monday morning, Francine had top winds of 50 mph and is located about 245 miles southeast of the Rio Grande. Forecasters anticipate a storm surge of up to 10 feet and significant flash flooding risks in northeastern Mexico, southern Texas, southern Louisiana, and southern Mississippi through Thursday morning.
