Gordon churns in Atlantic as Potential Tropical Cyclone 8 slams North Carolina
SUMMARY: Fox 35 News reports on the current tropical conditions as of September 16. Despite forecasts predicting an active season, the number of named storms is below average, while impactful storms have already made landfall in the U.S. Notably, a non-named storm caused significant rainfall in North Carolina. Looking ahead, a potential system in the Western Caribbean could develop between September 24 and 27, with favorable conditions for hurricane formation. Warm Gulf waters and low wind shear may contribute to this possibility. Meteorologist Noah Beren emphasizes the need for close monitoring of upcoming developments in the tropics.
An unnamed system hit the Carolinas hard on Monday, bringing over 20 inches of rain and wind gusts exceeding 70 mph.
