Trop. Depression FOURTEEN has formed in the Gulf of Mexico
SUMMARY: Tropical Depression 14 has formed in the southwestern Gulf of Mexico, with maximum winds at 35 mph and minimal movement. The National Hurricane Center expects it to strengthen into Tropical Storm Milton by tonight, then potentially a Category 1 Hurricane by Monday, followed by a Category 2 hurricane near the Yucatan Peninsula. The system poses threats to the Florida Peninsula, already recovering from Hurricane Helen, particularly around Tampa Bay, Sarasota, and Fort Myers, with risks of heavy rain, winds, and storm surge. While impacts for Alabama and Mississippi will be minor, gusty winds may occur mid-week. Updates will be provided as conditions evolve.
Hurricane conditions appear likely for the Florida Peninsula next week. The next name on the list is Milton.

Crash involving MPD vehicle
SUMMARY: A crash involving a Mobile police cruiser and at least two other vehicles occurred on Government Boulevard, west of Aelia Road. The accident resulted in significant damage, particularly to the passenger side of one car, and has almost flipped the police vehicle over. Two individuals were transported to the hospital. Mobile Fire Rescue assisted at the scene, and Mobile Police Department officers are also present. Traffic in the area is not heavily impacted, as drivers are managing to navigate around the site. Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.

Showers continue for Veterans Day, A Cooldown Late This Week
SUMMARY: This Sunday has been marked by unsettled weather along the Gulf Coast, with light to moderate beneficial rain. Through the evening, rain coverage is expected to decrease until midnight when more rain from the Gulf of Mexico may develop. Veterans Day will start with light showers, especially south of I-10, and temperatures will reach the upper 70s, remaining mostly cloudy with a chance of late-day sun. While Tuesday will be mostly dry, rain is anticipated on Wednesday due to a cold front, bringing cooler, more seasonal air for the end of the week and upcoming weekend.
Some much-needed rain continues to fall over parts of the Gulf Coast. A late-week cold front will help to drop our temperatures as we head into next weekend.

SUMMARY: Today will be mostly cloudy with a southeast breeze and temperatures in the 60s to mid-70s. While rain is currently absent, scattered showers are expected this afternoon, particularly north and west of Birmingham, with heavier downpours possible later tonight as a front approaches. Drier air will move in tomorrow, leading to clearer skies by lunchtime. Rain chances will fluctuate in the coming days, with light showers expected tomorrow morning, a dry Tuesday, and potential widespread rain from a system around Wednesday and Thursday. An umbrella is recommended for those heading out today.
