Triple-digit heat on the way, Not much rain ahead
SUMMARY: Chief Meteorologist Ed Bloodsworth reports that tropical storm Debbie is heading out to the Atlantic, affecting local weather with drier air mass in the region. Rain chances have significantly decreased to below 10%, while temperatures are expected to rise, potentially reaching triple digits from Tuesday through Friday. Record highs may be approached on several days, with Tuesday forecasted at 99ยฐF and Wednesday at 101ยฐF. Light breezes will accompany mostly sunny skies, and any rain is likely to be limited to coastal areas. As the week progresses, moisture may return, bringing some chance of pop-up showers by the weekend.
Some passing clouds early this evening will give way to a mostly clear sky as we head into the night. Overnight lows will fall into the middle and upper 70s.
Heat advisories are back in effect for Tuesday. High temperatures will likely reach the upper 90s with triple-digits inland Tuesday afternoon. Heat indices will reach 110 in some spots.
With even drier air aloft, temperatures are likely to range from 99-103 for most communities along and north of I-10.

Man Arrested in Lancewood Drive Shooting | Sept. 18, 2024 | News 19 at 4 p.m.
SUMMARY: Markieff Jackson has been arrested in Huntsville for a shooting incident that occurred Monday evening on Lance Wood Drive. He faces charges of aggravated first-degree assault against a non-family member and is detained on a $30,000 bond. Police arrived at the scene shortly before 4:30 PM and found a victim suffering from life-threatening injuries.
Huntsville Police said that Markeith Jackson has been arrested for the shooting on Lancewood Drive that happened on Monday.

“Arti Gras” aims to improve small Mobile park
SUMMARY: Neighbors in a historic mobile neighborhood are revitalizing a small City Park through the Arty GR event this weekend. Local artists have donated their work for sale or raffle to raise funds for improvements in the pocket park located in the Detonti Square Historic District. One goal is to elevate the planters for easier access. Organizers hope to increase awareness of the tucked-away park, encouraging more visitors to explore nearby restaurants and coffee shops. The event will take place Saturday from 10 AM to 4 PM at Flambo Hall on St. Anthony Street, with hopes for it to become an annual tradition.

Hot and dry this week for Alabama
SUMMARY: In East Alabama, cloud cover is diminishing as temperatures rise. Currently, Gadsden reports 64ยฐF, with other areas like Cullman at 59ยฐF and Tuscaloosa at 66ยฐF. This afternoon, temperatures will reach around 87ยฐF, with a slight chance of isolated showers in far East Alabama. Expect plenty of sunshine and hotter conditions throughout the week, with temperatures nearing the low 90s by Friday and Saturday. Although fall officially starts on Sunday at 7:43 PM, it will feel more like summer with upper 80s expected. Attention will also be on upcoming tropical weather developments.
