Trash Pickup Problems
SUMMARY: Residents in Jackson want the legal dispute over trash pickup to be resolved as their contract with Waste Management expired on March 31st. Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba and the city council have been unable to reach an agreement, causing frustration among residents and council members. The mayor supports Richard’s Disposal, but the city council has voted against a contract with them. Richard’s Disposal has been picking up trash since April without a contract, but they have had to create new routes as they do not have access to previous ones. This complicated process has caused issues for trash pickup in the city.
