Transformer issue causes outage at Hinds County Detention Center
SUMMARY: A transformer malfunction caused a brief power outage at the Hinds County Detention Center in Raymond, Mississippi. On July 5, the building’s generator activated, and maintenance contacted Entergy to report the issue. They also reached out to Taylor Power to secure another backup generator. According to Othor Cain from the Hinds County Board of Supervisors, the facility was cooled using generators, fans, and other resources. A new transformer has been purchased and will be installed soon. No staff or detainees were in immediate danger, and there were no reports of medical emergencies during the outage.
