Train derailment in Austin causes power outage, CapMetro rail disruption | FOX 7 Austin

SUMMARY: A train derailed in downtown Austin early this morning, affecting multiple train cars near East 6th Street and Robert T. Martinez Jr. Street. Seven cars were overturned, two of which contained gravel, while five were empty. Fortunately, there were no injuries or hazardous materials involved. A utility pole was struck, causing a power outage in the area, with Austin Energy working to address the damage. Local rail services on Cap Metro have been disrupted, and commuters are advised to seek alternative routes due to street closures. The area is expected to be cleared by 5:00 p.m. today.
