At least 6 rescued from homes following flooding in Vancleave
SUMMARY: Jackson County experienced significant flash flooding following severe weather, leading to numerous rescues. EMA Director Earl Heich noted that this level of flooding is unusual for the area, which usually doesn’t see such severe conditions despite frequent bad weather. Rescue crews were active early Saturday, saving nine individuals, including three from Sugar Sands Campground. With streets submerged and various infrastructure endangered, residents in low-lying areas are advised to stay alert and monitor weather updates. Heich emphasized the importance of being prepared for potential flash floods, particularly near rivers and creeks prone to rapid water rise.
