Tracking what's going to be Helene and its impacts on Louisiana
SUMMARY: The WDSU First Warning Weather report focuses on tracking Potential Tropical Cyclone Nine, expected to develop into Tropical Storm Helene. The storm could make landfall in Florida or Central America as early as Wednesday, with winds up to 40 mph. Forecasts show it strengthening to a possible major Category 3 storm by Thursday afternoon in the Big Bend area of Florida. Weather patterns indicate a shift east in projected tracks, highlighting lower confidence in predictions. Isolated showers are currently seen in the region, and temperatures remain warm, averaging around 90 degrees, with slight chances of rain as the tropical system approaches.
Meteorologist Devon Lucie dives into what’s expected to be Helene within the next day or so, giving us the latest stats and information on what it’s doing right now, then has the latest tracks, forecast strength, and analyzes the current environment and what it’s going to be moving in to, while highlighting its impacts it might have on Louisiana, then turns the attention to the local high resolution forecast showing how long this late summer heat holds, what our rain chances will be, and finishes with your entire seven day forecast.

Puppeteer shares how Mr. Bingle first got his strings
SUMMARY: In April 1948, young puppeteers Harry Ory and Ray Fredericks drew attention with their work, leading to a collaboration with Edwin Harmon “Oscar” Isentrout to create a Christmas show at the Maison Blanche store. By December of that year, the debut of the puppet character Mr. Bingle was a massive success. Ory felt that he and Fredericks, who crafted the original show and marionettes, did not receive proper credit, often being labeled mere assistants. They contributed significantly to Mr. Bingle’s creation, which brought holiday joy to New Orleans, with various contributors involved in shaping the character’s inception.
