Tracking rain and potential tropical development in the Gulf of Mexico
SUMMARY: The weather forecast reports steady light to moderate rain affecting New Orleans, with heavier pockets in areas like Chalmette and Saint Bernard Parish, while the North Shore remains mostly dry. Rain is expected to taper off after sunset, with a brief break before more precipitation arrives tomorrow morning. There are indications of a tropical system developing in the Gulf, but no immediate impact is expected. Weekend weather looks promising for events like Gretna Fest, with rain chances diminishing. Overall, expect some lingering showers Friday evening, but nicer conditions for Saturday and Sunday.
Meteorologist Devon Lucie is tracking showers moving into Southeast Louisiana timing when will arrive where you are, how long it will last, how it could affect weekend plans, and how much you’ll get, then gets us a look at the tropics where two storms spin in the Atlantic, then takes a finer look at the Gulf of Mexico where there’s still tropical potential and walks us through when and where a weak system could form and how that will impact our weather. Then finally takes us to our high resolution forecast stepping us through the rain chances, impact on temperatures, weekend events, and finishes with a seven day forecast tying it all together.

Law enforcement agencies slam Bexar County sheriff’s policy that rejects certain inmates from jail
SUMMARY: Bear County law enforcement agencies express concern over a new booking policy by Sheriff Javier Salazar, which delays jail intake for suspects requiring medical screening. The directive, aimed at addressing jail deaths, mandates that suspects detoxing from substances or with serious medical conditions must be evaluated at a hospital before booking. This has led to significant delays and complications for officers, with reports of suspects being released instead of booked. Smaller agencies worry that the policy jeopardizes public safety. Despite the concerns raised, Sheriff Salazar maintains that the policy is necessary to improve health outcomes for detainees.
Several area law enforcement agencies said a new directive from Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar puts public safety at risk.

SUMMARY: Chilly air has settled in, and temperatures are expected to drop further tonight and into the weekend. Chief meteorologist Chris Franklin reports that temperatures will be a few degrees colder, with widespread 30s on the North Shore and 50s in the metro area. Clear skies have resulted in high temperatures staying below average, with daytime highs in the 60s.
