Tracking rain and possible tropical development in the Gulf of Mexico
SUMMARY: WDSU’s First Warning Weather reports a significant change in weather, with bright sunshine giving way to incoming rain linked to tropical systems. The rain, already affecting areas like Grand Isle and Port Fourchon, is expected to move north at about 22 mph, with some arrival times around 2 PM for parts of the city. Hurricane Kirk and other systems in the Atlantic pose no immediate threat, while a potential tropical depression in the Gulf has only a 30% development chance. Despite some dry conditions recently, expected rainfall will be beneficial, especially along the coast, with minimal accumulation projected for northern regions.
Meteorologist Devon Lucie is tracking showers moving into Southeast Louisiana timing when will arrive where you are, how long it will last, how it could affect weekend plans, and how much you’ll get, then gets us a look at the tropics where two storms spin in the Atlantic, then takes a finer look at the Gulf of Mexico where there’s still tropical potential and walks us through when and where a weak system could form and how that will impact our weather. Then finally takes us to our high resolution forecast stepping us through the rain chances, impact on temperatures, weekend events, and finishes with a seven day forecast tying it all together.

Report: LDH pulling back on vaccine push
SUMMARY: Anonymous employees from the Louisiana Health Department claim that leadership has instructed them not to promote COVID-19 and flu vaccines anymore. A report from NPR cites four employees who were told to cease social media posts, vaccine events, and press releases about vaccination encouragement due to a re-evaluation of messaging as the pandemic evolves. The health department did not confirm specifics but acknowledged the change in approach. Experts warn that this shift may lead to decreased vaccination rates during a time when Louisiana is experiencing high flu cases, potentially increasing illness and mortality rates. Vaccines remain available and free through various local channels.
Anonymous employees say the state health department is pulling back on telling people to get vaccinated. That’s according to a report published by NPR on Friday.
