Tourists pour into Nashville despite record-shattering rainfall in Middle TN
SUMMARY: The remnants of Hurricane Helen caused significant rainfall and strong winds in Middle Tennessee, particularly affecting Nashville where over 4 inches of rain were recorded in one day, breaking local records. While some areas faced power outagesโover 7,500 at one pointโmany tourists still flocked to downtown Broadway, undeterred by the weather. Emergency services in East Tennessee were bolstered by local deputies from Middle Tennessee. Firefighters in McMinville are collecting supplies such as water and food for affected areas, with drop-off locations at local fire stations until October 4th. Ongoing rain and cleanup efforts are expected through the weekend.
The heavy rain and windy conditions caused by Hurricane Helene didn’t get in the way of tourists hitting the streets downtown as people traveled from hundreds of miles away to visit Music City.

Evening Weather (9/28): A calmer weekend ahead with lingering showers and a breezy wind
SUMMARY: Today was cool and cloudy in East Tennessee, with temperatures reaching the low 70s and minimal rain recorded. The remnants of Hurricane Helen combined with a low-pressure area to bring more clouds and rain for the upcoming days, although rainfall totals are expected to remain low, around half an inch over three days. Cleanup efforts continue in the region, with rain chances persisting into Monday and possibly some spotty showers on Tuesday. However, dry weather and warmer temperatures near 80 degrees are anticipated by midweek, providing a chance for humidity to decrease and moisture to evaporate.
Scattered mainly light showers this weekend will give way to drier conditions as we move into the first week of October next week.
