Tropical depression Naen is dropping heavy rain in Central America but will not affect our area. Current hurricane Oscar is moving towards Cuba but will likely turn back into the Atlantic. Ward 2 race headed to runoff on Tuesday

House fire under investigation in Jackson

SUMMARY: At old Bannon and Sunset Road, across from Commonwealth Village, an officer reported a fire at an abandoned building. Initially, the blaze was large, but firefighters are still on site battling hot spots, with at least six fire trucks and emergency services present for over thirty minutes. Firefighters are actively entering and exiting the structure. The cause of the fire is unknown, but it marks the third fire in abandoned buildings since the weather turned cold. Smoke is still visible, and is being sprayed to extinguish remaining flames.

A fire broke out at a house on O’Bannon Street.
