Showers are expected in Leak, Scott, and Smith counties between 5 and 8 p.m., so voters in those areas should bring rain gear. Meanwhile, eastern Mississippi and western Alabama will see mid to lower 70s without rain. Temperatures remain above average through Wednesday in the low 80s but will dip slightly with showers on Thursday and Friday. Tropical Storm Raphael is set to become a Category 1 hurricane before impacting the Gulf, primarily bringing heavy rainfall. Clearing is expected Sunday and Monday.

1 person in custody for Booneville fatal stabbing
SUMMARY: A man is dead, and a woman is in custody following a stabbing incident in Boonville. Detectives are investigating the city’s second murder of the year, which occurred Tuesday morning on South Lake Street. The victim, whose identity is pending release, was stabbed in the chest; he is not a local resident. The woman in custody also hails from outside the county and has not been charged yet, although charges may be forthcoming. Chief Michael Ry noted that such violent crimes are rare in Boonville, a usually peaceful town.

Interview: Civic Ballet in Tupelo performing ‘Snow Queen’
SUMMARY: The 12th annual “Hope for the Holidays Snow Queen Ballet” is this weekend, a fundraiser benefiting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The event, started by North Mississippi Dance Center in honor of a young cancer patient named Miles, has grown into a larger production over the years. This year, the performance features 70 dancers, including 36 from the company. A new highlight is an expanded scene with the Snow Queen’s army of evil ice, offering more dramatic flair. The ballet, a winter tale of good versus evil, is performed Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. at Tupelo High School.
The Civic Ballet in Tupelo is performing “Snow Queen” on Nov. 23-24.

McComb police chief on administrative leave after officer-involved shooting
SUMMARY: Mcon Police Chief Juan Clo has been placed on administrative leave following a shooting incident involving officers. The incident occurred after police received a report about men brandishing rifles. A 16-year-old, Jorian Cyber, was shot and killed when he allegedly drew a weapon at officers. The mayor stated that Chief Clo acted in self-defense and that the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI) is handling the investigation to ensure transparency. One person has been arrested, while two others remain at large. The mayor will await MBI’s report before making further comments.
