The week will be mostly sunny with a slight increase in cloud cover by Thursday. Multiple flood warnings are in place for rivers as a result of last week’s rainfall. SUMMARY: Governor Tate Reeves signed a bill that gradually reduces Mississippi’s state income tax by 0.25% each year until 2030, reaching a total reduction of 3%. Additionally, the state’s grocery tax, currently the highest in the U.S. at 7%, will be cut to 5% starting July 1st. To offset revenue losses, the gas tax will rise by $0.09 per gallon. House Bill 1, now law, may still be amended before taking effect, with changes being discussed in a conference committee regarding a new trigger system.
