2 people in custody after apartment shooting
SUMMARY: A front will pass tomorrow, but in developing news, there was a shooting this afternoon at the Park at Inverness apartment complex. Jackson Police reported that around 1 PM, multiple suspects were involved in a shootout, damaging cars and buildings. Two people of interest have since been taken into custody.

SUMMARY: Today, much-needed rain fell in the Pine Belt, offering relief from abnormally dry conditions, notably north of Hattiesburg in Mississippi. Rain-cooled temperatures hit 81° at Petro Nissan, with rainfall totals ranging from a tenth of an inch to about an inch. Some thunderstorms lingered on the area's outskirts, but the core remained clear. In tropical news, the Bay of Campeche has a 50/50 chance of developing into a tropical depression, while Hurricane Barrel is moving towards the Windward Islands and may become a major hurricane in the Caribbean. Local rain chances will return to 30-40% tomorrow, decreasing near the holiday weekend.

JSU hosts Mandela Washington Fellowship
SUMMARY: Habitat for Humanity received help building new homes from participants in the 2024 Mandela Washington Fellowship for young African leaders, selected by Jackson State University (JSU). This marks JSU's third consecutive year as an Institute partner, sponsored by the U.S. Department of State.
