Blitz 16: Week 6

10/04 Highlights: Bay v. Presbyterian Christian School
SUMMARY: Homecoming at PCS featured Anna Lee Miller as the homecoming queen. Heidelberg VFD receives $10,000 grant
SUMMARY: The Heidelberg Volunteer Fire Department is expanding its fleet with a $10,000 grant from State Farm’s Good Neighbor Firefighter Safety Program, just in time for National Fire Prevention Week. The funding will help the department purchase equipment for a new pumper truck, which they ordered in January 2023 for $320,000. Chief Prince Henley notes that while the truck will arrive soon, it won’t be fully equipped, requiring transfers from older trucks. Many of their vehicles exceed the typical 15-year lifespan, leading to costly repairs. The department has already received over 254 calls this year, emphasizing the need for support in small towns.
