Titan submersible may have tried to resurface before tragedy: report
SUMMARY: New details have emerged about the implosion of the Titan submersible, revealing that it dropped weights before communication was lost. Rob McCallum, a former advisor to OceanGate, the company responsible for designing the submersible, received a report indicating that the dive was aborted at 3,500 meters. The submersible then lost communication and tracking before an implosion was heard. The use of a Sony PlayStation controller to pilot the predecessor of the Titan, called Cyclops I, has also been criticized. The U.S. Coast Guard is leading the investigation into the incident, in which five people were killed.
