TikTok's future remains uncertain, UK student media outlet reacts
SUMMARY: TikTok faces potential bans after a federal appeals court upheld a law mandating its sale or prohibition due to national security concerns. With over 170 million U.S. users, including those engaged by the University of Kentucky’s newspaper, the Kentucky Colonel, the platform’s interactive and informative style is valued. TikTok editor Bryce Tol notes that their unique videos foster diverse opinions. If banned, the Colonel plans to transition to Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts, though viewership may initially decline. TikTok and its parent company, ByteDance, plan to appeal the court ruling. The ban could take effect on January 19 if unsuccessful.
In the United States, there are more than 170 million TikTok users. But soon, those users might not have access to the quick vertical videos that offer an alternative way to consume information.

Metro snow crews working to clear emergency routes
SUMMARY: City officials urged residents to remove vehicles from emergency snow routes by midnight Thursday for snow removal efficiency. Despite this deadline, many cars remain parked on routes like Brownsboro Road, as residents struggle to find alternative parking due to limited options. Some have complied, while others, like William Wright, voiced concerns about insufficient parking availability, especially in snowed-in areas. Although there are no immediate penalties for remaining vehicles, those parked in these areas risk being plowed in, requiring owners to shovel them out. An interactive map of the 149 affected streets is available on the city’s website for resident reference.
