TikTok says it is restoring service for U.S. users after Trump comments
SUMMARY: TikTok announced it would restore service for U.S. users after President-elect Donald Trump provided assurances to service providers. The company thanked Trump for ensuring no penalties for continuing to provide the platform to over 170 million Americans, supporting small businesses. Trump, who previously advocated for banning TikTok, supported the app’s availability for his inauguration and proposed an executive order delaying the ban. TikTok was initially blocked after a law requiring its Chinese owner, ByteDance, to sell the app was set to take effect, but the Biden administration deferred enforcement to Trump. Service was suspended but is now being restored.
