Three Weatherford firefighters save fellow Oklahoman in Colorado
SUMMARY: Three firefighters from Weatherford, Oklahoma, while on a hunting trip in Colorado, sprang into action to save a fellow Oklahoman, West Patton, who had become unconscious due to carbon monoxide poisoning from an old catalytic heater in his tent. Alerted to his condition, Chief Corey Selmon, Lieutenant J. Wich, and Fireman Jimmy Lich trekked eight miles up a rugged trail, bringing oxygen and medical supplies. Their quick response improved Patton’s condition, and they arranged for a medical helicopter to airlift him to a hospital. The firefighters were recognized for their heroic efforts, with a $500 donation made to their department.

Lawmakers say investigation didn't cover key concerns
SUMMARY: An investigation into the Oklahoma State Department of Education found no criminal wrongdoing but highlighted significant communication breakdowns. State Superintendent Ryan Walters claimed vindication from the findings. However, several lawmakers, including Rep. Mark McBride, expressed dissatisfaction, claiming the investigation failed to address critical issues, particularly concerning the misuse of school safety funds. McBride is pushing for a more comprehensive investigation amidst concerns about Walters’ spending on out-of-state trips and rising legal costs. These legislators argue that without a thorough examination of these matters, accountability cannot be ensured, leaving many questions unanswered.
