Three candidates aim to fill vacancy on Louisiana’s Public Service Commission | Louisiana
SUMMARY: Three candidates are competing for the District 2 commissioner position on Louisiana’s Public Service Commission in the Nov. 5 election. The candidates include two Republicans, current Sen. Jean-Paul Coussan and former Sen. Julie Quinn, and one Democrat, business consultant Nick Laborde. Outgoing Commissioner Dr. Craig Greene, who served since 2017, will not seek re-election. Laborde focuses on holding utility companies accountable and promoting renewable energy, while Coussan and Quinn emphasize consumer protection and energy independence. As of 30 days before the election, Coussan led in campaign finances with over $523,000 raised, followed by Quinn with $126,000.

Mild winter days but rain chances for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day
SUMMARY: The weather forecast until January 6th is mild with temperatures gradually warming to the 60s. Tonight’s bonfires on the levee will be enjoyable despite cool temperatures in the 50s. For Christmas Eve and Day, low rain chances are anticipated, particularly for lower Plaquemines and Jefferson, while the North Shore may remain dry. Christmas Day temperatures will reach around 71°F, with potential isolated thunderstorms. A mild trend continues into the New Year, with temperatures remaining in the 60s and a slim chance of showers on New Year’s Eve. Be cautious of fog later in the week.

Unsolved murder case in Washington Parish is getting a new look by the new sheriff
