SUMMARY: Central Alabama will experience scattered storms this afternoon, with a low-pressure system off the Gulf Coast bringing heavy rain and elevated surf. The tropics are active, with a tropical wave moving westward from Africa, potentially strengthening as it approaches the Lesser Antilles and Cuba next week. Development chances are medium, and the next named storm could be Francine. While conditions remain wet today, dry weather is anticipated for tomorrow, offering a reprieve for outdoor Labor Day plans. Peak hurricane season approaches, emphasizing the need for continued monitoring of these weather developments.
