Three arrested for August homicide in Jackson
SUMMARY: Jackson police have arrested three suspects linked to an August homicide. Gennady Cobbins, 20, was detained on September 10, while Demarcus Jones and Alexandria McDonald, both 20, were arrested on August 28 and 26, respectively. Cobbins faces charges of conspiracy to commit murder, capital murder, and shooting into an occupied vehicle; Jones is charged with capital murder and shooting into an occupied vehicle, currently held on other charges; and McDonald is charged as an accessory to murder. The shooting occurred on August 8, resulting in the death of Fredrick Smith. Tips can be reported to Jackson Police or Crime Stoppers.

New Ackerman police chief investigates plane crash in Choctaw
SUMMARY: Martha Caradine has been sworn in as the new police chief of Ackerman, Mississippi, following the retirement of Tim Cook. Just hours after her appointment, a passenger plane made an emergency landing at the Ackerman Choctaw County Airport, going off the runway around 4:00 p.m. Fortunately, none of the three individuals on board were injured. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is investigating the incident.

Lieutenant Sanders deemed “Hometown Hero” by the Thunderbirds
