THIS WEEK: Singing River hosting blood drives
SUMMARY: There are three blood drives being held by Singing River. The first is today in Ocean Springs and if you’re unable to make it, there will be ones in Pascagoula tomorrow and Gulfport on Friday. All locations will have blood drives from 7AM until 3PM. It is important that people come out to support these blood drives in order to give the gift of life to those in need.
This week, Singing River Health System is hosting blood drives at each of its hospitals.

Happening January 11: Rock 'N' Roux Gumbo Cook-Off in Bay St. Louis

MDOT projects in South Mississippi making progress
SUMMARY: The Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) is working on several road projects in 2025, focusing on areas from Hancock to Jackson counties. Notably, MDOT is widening the Diamond Head Bridge and I-10 from four to six lanes, including the construction of multi-use shoulders. The $17 million Diamond Head project and $155 million I-10 widening aim to increase road capacity and improve traffic flow, with a completion date set for 2027. Additional upgrades include new traffic cameras and digital message signs. MDOT is also widening State Highway 57 in Jackson County, with a projected cost of over $200 million.

“The Zebra and the Bear” raising awareness about rare disease, treatment options
SUMMARY: The documentary “The Zebra and the Bear” premieres at the LY Meadows Discovery Center, highlighting the rare disease multiple sulfatase deficiency (MSD), which affects children like Willow, who passed away at 11.
