Their WWII mission was secret for decades. Now the Ghost Army will get the Congressional Gold Medal

SUMMARY: During World War II, the American military units known as the Ghost Army used inflatable tanks, trucks, and planes, combined with sound effects and radio trickery, to outwit the enemy. The units specialized in camouflage and deception near the front lines, carrying out about 20 battlefield deceptions in France, Luxembourg, Belgium, and Germany. Their missions, like Operation Viersen, saved thousands of American lives by diverting German troops. The Ghost Army is now being awarded the Congressional Gold Medal, with three surviving members attending the ceremony at the U.S. Capitol. The story of the Ghost Army was declassified in 1996 and brought to light by filmmaker Rick Beyer.

MGCCC students earn top honors at 2025 Mississippi Community College Art Instructors Association competition

HII Hosts US Marine Corps Officers at Ingalls Shipbuilding

Southern Miss freshman earns Congressional Silver Medal
