SUMMARY: Chief meteorologist Chad Merill discusses weather patterns for the upcoming week. He explains that recent rain, which contained ash from wildfires in Texas, has affected areas like West Virginia, with potential for more ash if winds continue from the Southwest. However, tomorrow’s rain will not carry ash due to the influence of a cold front. The forecast predicts temperatures around 45°F today, dropping to 35°F tonight. Snow will follow the rain, but travel impacts will be minimal. A warm-up is expected, with highs reaching the 50s and 60s by next week, and a chance of rain and thunderstorms for St. Patrick’s Day weekend.

SUMMARY: The Canal County 4 Foundation will present a corrective plan regarding operational improvements for Camp Virgil Tate, which recently faced scrutiny for housing foster children without notifying the County Commission, which shares ownership of the property. Following multiple incidents requiring police and EMS presence, Canal County Commission President Ben Sango expressed concerns over communication breakdowns and liability risks. The foundation initially believed housing foster children could assist an overwhelmed system but has now ceased this practice. Before approving a requested $60,000 budget, the County Commission requires a plan addressing these issues. The foundation will convene next week to draft this plan.
