Man sentenced for killing his girlfriend's teen daughter while trying to rape her, DA's office says
SUMMARY: A humble man has received a life sentence for the murder of his girlfriend’s daughter, 16-year-old Lauren Juma, in Umble, Texas. Van Brisbane was convicted of capital murder in relation to the crime, which occurred in 2022. The Harris County district attorney’s office reported that he is not eligible for parole, ensuring he will spend the rest of his life in prison.
“The defendant was a predator with a gun, and his choice to hurt a young girl was senseless and horrific,” DA Kim Ogg said.
