The Ohr-O’Keefe Museum of Art is celebrating George Ohr’s 167th birthday
SUMMARY: A big birthday celebration is planned this weekend at the Oro Keeth Museum of Art, marking George Ohr’s 167th birthday and the 20th birthday of the narrator’s son. The festivities include a mustache contest, where participants can create their own mustaches using provided supplies. FIRST ALERT: Freezing temps tonight, wet & windy Friday ahead (01/08/2025)

Happening January 11: Rock 'N' Roux Gumbo Cook-Off in Bay St. Louis

MDOT projects in South Mississippi making progress
SUMMARY: The Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) is working on several road projects in 2025, focusing on areas from Hancock to Jackson counties. Notably, MDOT is widening the Diamond Head Bridge and I-10 from four to six lanes, including the construction of multi-use shoulders. The $17 million Diamond Head project and $155 million I-10 widening aim to increase road capacity and improve traffic flow, with a completion date set for 2027. Additional upgrades include new traffic cameras and digital message signs. MDOT is also widening State Highway 57 in Jackson County, with a projected cost of over $200 million.
