Terence Robert, the chapter’s secretary, explained that Buffalo Soldiers were members of the 9th and 10th Cavalry, formed during the Indian Wars as part of America’s first peacetime army after the Civil War. This group continues to ride in Mississippi, and their contributions deserve recognition and appreciation.

The Meridian chapter of the National Buffalo Soldiers celebrated Sunday by honoring many who came before it.
