The Evidence Room, Episode 38 – The Texas Killing Fields, Part 3

SUMMARY: The investigation into the murders of several women in League City, Texas, primarily centers on Clyde Hedrick, who was linked to the death of Ellen B. A key witness identified Hedrick as the last person seen with Ellen before her body was found. Despite his varying accounts, authorities were unable to initially prosecute him for murder due to inconclusive autopsy results. However, renewed investigation efforts, including exhuming Ellen’s body, supported the conclusion of a homicide via blunt force trauma. Testimony from his daughter further painted Hedrick as a manipulative predator. The complex case raises questions about past investigative failures and Hedrick’s connection to other unsolved murders.

In 1985, 29 year old Ellen Rae Beason’s body was found near the Galveston causeway. But it wasn’t until 2014 that someone was finally convicted for her death. Even though her body was found in Galveston County, Benson’s case is connected to the ‘Killing Fields’ murders in League City because of the prime suspect.
