SUMMARY: The Washington Commanders have reached a deal with Washington, D.C. to bring the NFL team back to the RFK site, with plans for a new $3.7 billion stadium set to open in 2030. The team will contribute $2.7 billion for a 65,000-seat venue, while the district will invest $1.1 billion for infrastructure and surrounding developments. The deal requires approval from the D.C. Council, with a vote deadline by July. Local opposition exists, with community members planning a voter initiative to prevent a stadium at the site. If approved, this will mark a significant return for the team to its spiritual home.

Hegseth had an unsecured internet line in his office for Signal, sources say
SUMMARY:
Hegseth had an unsecured internet line in his office for Signal, sources say. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s trip to a U.S. base at the southern border coincides with turmoil at the Pentagon. CBS News confirmed that Hegseth had an unsecured internet connection for the messaging app Signal, a claim the Department of Defense denies. He is under investigation for sharing sensitive military information via Signal on a personal phone. Security consultant James Lewis warns this poses significant risks. Recently, Hegseth fired advisers over media leaks and threatened Admiral Christopher Grady with a lie detector test amid allegations of reputation damage.

Two people familiar with the case have told AP that Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth had an internet connection that bypassed the Pentagon’s security protocols set up in his office to use the Signal messaging app on a personal computer. The existence of the unsecured internet connection is the latest revelation about Hegseth’s use of the unclassified app and raises the possibility that sensitive defense information could have been put at risk of potential hacking or surveillance. Also Thursday, a China spokesperson denied any suggestion that it is in active negotiations with the U.S. over tariffs. And the president said it would be impossible to negotiate with dozens of countries and “we are going to, at some point, just set prices for deals.”
