The annual Run for the Wall continues their journey to Washington DC by passing through Meridian

The , held every mid-May, honors , promotes healing, and commemorates those killed or missing in action. Participants share profound stories—one rider began in 2019 and now rides with a group in memory of a friend who died in Iraq. Another rides to honor his late father, a veteran of Korea and Vietnam. As they make their way down the interstates, they will arrive in Washington, DC, on the Friday of Memorial weekend.

Athletes ready for US Junior Olympics event in their hometown

SUMMARY: The USA Track and Field Junior Olympics begins tomorrow in Jackson, with over 1,500 athletes from four southern states participating. Bradley Davis reported from Hughes Field, where local athletes from the Mississippi Track are preparing despite the stifling heat. Coach Alan Senegal emphasized the importance of programs like Mississippi Track Stars, given that local schools often lack summer track programs. Competing in their hometown offers young athletes the to qualify for nationals. The four-day will also include field at Millsaps College. The top five in each event will advance to nationals later this month.

The Metro area will be well represented this during the Region 6 USA Track and Field Junior Olympics. Events will be held at Hughes Field and Millsaps College and local athletes are to compete in their hometown amongst the best in the Southeast.

Silver Alert issued for 56-year-old Winston County man
