Texas Supreme Court stays the execution of Robert Roberson
SUMMARY: The Texas Supreme Court has temporarily blocked the execution of Robert Robertson, following a judge’s order from Travis County. Robertson argues that his conviction for shaken baby syndrome relies on outdated science and that he is entitled to a new trial under Texas’s “junk science” law, although past appeals have failed. The Attorney General appealed the initial restraining order, which was vacated by the Criminal Court of Appeals but later reinstated by the Supreme Court. Robertson will remain on death row, and a new death warrant, if necessary, cannot be issued for at least 91 days.
The Texas Supreme Court has issued a stay order, halting the execution of Robert Roberson, according to records.

U.S. winter outlook: NOAA predicting warmer, drier winter South, wetter North
SUMMARY: This week marks the start of fall, with early signs of mild weather ahead. Meteorologists predict a warmer and drier winter for the South due to La Niรฑa, contrasting last year’s El Niรฑo effects. Temperatures in October could reach the 80s, maintaining a trend of slightly above-average warmth. Rain is scarce, contributing to moderate drought conditions across most counties and leading to active burn bans. While two areas in the tropics show potential for development, the immediate forecast indicates dry conditions with increasing temperatures through the week. Enjoy the pleasant weather while it lasts, as no rain is expected soon.
NOAA says it’s time to start looking ahead to winter. Their winter outlook looks warm.

Texas execution: Court clears way for Robert Roberson's execution in shaken baby case
SUMMARY: A Texas appeals court has overruled a temporary block on the execution of Robert Roberson, scheduled for 6 p.m. Roberson was convicted of killing his 2-year-old daughter in 2002 and has drawn national attention, especially as lawmakers sought to subpoena him as a witness in a hearing on flawed scientific evidence in his case. Despite a Travis County Judge’s temporary restraining order, the Court of Criminal Appeals intervened, allowing the execution to proceed. Lawmakers are making a final appeal to the Texas Supreme Court, while Governor Abbott has not yet responded. The execution could happen late tonight pending developments.
