Texas lawmakers push to legalize sports betting — will it finally happen?
SUMMARY: In Texas, sports betting and prop bets remain illegal, but support for legalizing them is growing. A recent University of Houston survey shows significant bipartisan backing for casino and online sports betting, with 72% of Republicans and 74% of Democrats in favor. State Senator Carol Alvarado is advocating for a constitutional amendment to let Texans vote on gambling regulations. She believes this could diversify the state’s economy, with potential casinos in cities like Houston and Corpus Christi. Rapid DNA technology could help police solve more murders | FOX 7 Austin

For years, she feared her attacker was still nearby until DNA linked him to the crime. The FBI is exploring rapid DNA processing, which would allow immediate DNA analysis at the time of arrest, potentially identifying suspects in unsolved cases within 90 minutes. Despite advancements, Texas currently does not permit the use of rapid DNA during arrests, prompting advocacy for its implementation.
