Testimony begins in St. Paddy’s Parade double slaying
SUMMARY: In court today, key witnesses testified in the trial of 29-year-old Jordan Cummings, who is accused of fatally shooting Joshua Spann and Jordan Jubilee Simpkins during the 2023 St. Pat’s Parade. Two witnesses, Jordan Jagger and Brooke McFarland, longtime friends of Cummings’ girlfriend Jenny Lukens, described an argument where Cummings demanded his gun, leading to the shootings. The state called six witnesses, with dozens more expected. Cummings’ attorney claims he acted in self-defense. The trial will resume tomorrow at 9 a.m. at the Hinds County Courthouse.

Trailblazer lying in state at the state capitol
