SUMMARY: In October, Tennessee’s tax revenues exceeded last year’s figures by $22.6 million but fell short of predictions, with year-to-date collections 1.4% or $72.4 million above budget. Commissioner Jim Bryson highlighted the need to monitor revenue and spending trends closely. While sales tax revenues slightly missed estimates, corporate taxes also fell short; however, fuel, realty recordation, and transfer taxes outperformed expectations. Fuel taxes exceeded projections by $1.3 million. Changes to franchise tax calculations contributed to a revenue decrease this fiscal year. The State Funding Board will meet on November 25 to discuss forecasts for the 2025-26 fiscal year.

www.youtube.com – FOX13 Memphis – 2024-11-17 21:05:36

SUMMARY: Body camera footage from the Forest City Police Department in Arkansas reveals the distressing final moments of Perry EES Jr., who died at St. Francis County Jail in May 2023. In the video, EES pleads for medical help, expressing fear for his life, while officers appear indifferent, focusing on their inconvenience rather than his suffering. Despite his condition, he was handcuffed and taken to jail, where he died shortly after arrival. EES had initially sought help at a hospital but was turned away. Family attorneys claim his death was preventable and criticize the officers’ lack of humanity.

Newly released body camera footage shows the final moments of a man’s life before he died in an Arkansas jail.

“I am not trying to disobey,” Perry Eaves Jr. said. “Let me live.”

The footage shows Eaves pleading for his life in the parking lot of the Forrest City Medical Center in May 2023.
