Tennessee economists present rosy revenue picture | Tennessee

The Department of Revenue estimated a 1.6% revenue increase for fiscal year 2025 and a 3.1% increase for 2026. However, the franchise tax changes resulted in revenue losses between 11.54% and 17%. Dr. Don Bruce forecasted a nominal decline of 1.3% this year, with 2.5% growth in 2026. The recent food tax holiday is expected to boost revenues by $180 million this year. Dr. Joseph Newhard anticipates growth in small and medium businesses, projecting a 0.61% increase for 2024-25 and 4.54% for 2025-26.

SUMMARY: Today’s temperatures reached a normal high of 49 degrees but remained cooler than desired due to overcast skies. Tonight, some areas, particularly north of the plateau, may drop below freezing, while most regions will stay slightly above. Warmer weather is expected later in the week, with highs nearing 60 degrees by Wednesday. Showers will move in late tonight, with potential mixed precipitation, especially in the northern plateau and Smoky Mountains.
