Teeuwissen sworn in as Hinds County Court judge
SUMMARY: Judge Pieter Teeuwissen was appointed to fill the vacancy left by the passing of Judge Larita Cooper-Stokes. His term will begin on December 4th, and he has an extensive legal background, including serving as a board attorney for Hinds County and as city attorney for the City of Jackson. Judge Teeuwissen is committed to serving the citizens of Hinds County and ensuring efficient and fair justice. A special election will be held on November 5th, 2024, to determine who will serve the remainder of the four-year term. Governor Tate Reeves will call for that special election.

MAIS State Final Preview: TCA
SUMMARY: The Conerly Trophy will be presented on December 3rd at the Sheraton in Flowood. As the MAIS high school football season concludes, the Tri-County Rebels aim for another state title under Coach Philip Wasson. With a perfect 10-0 record, the Rebels advanced to the finals after playoff victories against Centerville and Columbia Academy. They will face Bowling Green in the 4A state title game, having defeated the Buccaneers in last year’s championship. The game kicks off this Friday at 7 PM at Jackson Academy, showcasing the Rebels’ ongoing quest for back-to-back titles.
The Tri County Academy Rebels are back in the 4A MAIS State Championship game. This year they rematch against Bowling Green. After going 10-0 in the regular season the Rebels are in a good position to repeat. TCA head coach Philip Wasson says his senior class is used to having success at this level. TCA and Bowling Green meet at 7pm this Friday night at Jackson Academy.

UWA’s Integrated Marketing Communications program hosts its 10th annual IMC3 Competition

Vitalant Blood Drive at Lauderdale County Government Center
