Teenager arrested in Grenada County murder investigation

SUMMARY: A 17-year-old girl in Grenada has been accused of killing her stepfather, Cleota Mayweather. The sheriff’s office is withholding her mugshot, as per the district attorney’s request. Mayweather’s body was found by sheriff deputies in a ditch along Black Valou Road in Glendor, Tahachi County, last month. He was reported missing by family members in August. Following an investigation by deputies from Tahachi and Grenada, Janilla Wright was arrested in Batesville. She has been formally charged with murder and is currently held on a $500,000 bond. Another warrant was issued for Cadarius Williams in connection to the case, but he died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound during the warrant serving process in Laurel. WTV 9 News will provide updates on the investigation.
