www.ozarksfirst.com – Shannon Rousseau – 2024-12-21 10:30:00

SUMMARY: Missouri Governor Mike Parson commuted the prison sentence of former Kansas City police detective Eric DeValkenaere, who was convicted in 2021 for the 2019 shooting death of Cameron Lamb. DeValkenaere was sentenced to six years in prison but had been serving time since October 2023. Lamb was unarmed when shot. DeValkenaere’s family submitted a clemency request, and Governor-elect Mike Kehoe supported his release. The Lamb family expressed outrage over the decision. While the commutation reduces DeValkenaere’s sentence, it does not forgive his conviction. The situation remains controversial, with mixed reactions from officials and the public.
