Tarrant County election security measures could slow election night results
SUMMARY: Taran County’s Republican County Judge Tim O’Hare announced 14 security measures for the 2024 general election aimed at improving election integrity and transparency. These actions include implementing sequentially numbered ballots, enhancing ballot custody, and using live-stream cameras in storage rooms. O’Hare’s proposal, which requires in-person transmission of results instead of online, may delay results and increase costs. Analysts suggest this reflects pressure from activists concerned about election vulnerabilities, despite the lack of evidence for widespread fraud. Critics call the measures unnecessary, arguing they won’t address legitimate issues, as no illegal voting cases have led to prosecutions in Texas.
Tarrant County’s top Republican announced several security measures for election night, some of which might slow down the vote count.

Robert Roberson execution: Texas judge issues injunction ahead of execution in 'shaken baby syndrome
SUMMARY: The execution of Texas death row inmate Robert Roberson is in limbo after a Travis County judge issued a temporary restraining order. Roberson, convicted in 2002 of killing his 2-year-old daughter, was set to be executed, but a bipartisan group of lawmakers subpoenaed him to testify next week, questioning the validity of the evidence against him. A civil court judge supported the subpoena, while the US Supreme Court denied a last-minute attempt to halt the execution. Lawmakers raised doubts about the original scientific basis for the conviction, prompting further investigations and protests outside the state prison.
A Travis County judge has issued a temporary injunction that could delay the controversial execution of Robert Roberson. Roberson would be the first person in the U.S. executed for a murder conviction tied to the diagnosis of shaken baby syndrome.
