SUMMARY: Tupelo, Mississippi, may soon welcome a Target store, as recent paperwork shows the company has submitted a major site plan application. This application, filed a week ago, outlines store layouts and proposed parking arrangements for a location situated west of North Clester Street, between Lowe’s and Best Buy. Though city leaders remain tight-lipped, the filing signals a significant move towards securing the big-box retailer. However, there are hurdles ahead, including necessary rezoning of the over 24-acre site. If successful, this development could offer Northeast Mississippi shoppers more retail options.

Jackson Democratic mayoral primary heads to runoff

SUMMARY: In Jackson’s Democratic mayoral primary, Senator John Horn nearly avoided a runoff despite low voter turnout. Horn will face incumbent Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba in a runoff on April 22nd, after securing over 7,000 more votes than Lumumba. Many voters, including some who typically lean Republican, supported Horn for his hard campaigning and ability to get things done. However, Horn’s vote share fell short of the 50% needed to avoid a runoff. The winner of the runoff will advance to the June 3rd general election. Voters are seeking a mayor who is transparent and effective in managing city resources.

Dr. Quinn observes that technology often distracts users, leading to time loss and decreased engagement in daily activities. He suggests a technology detox, advocating for 24-hour breaks from social media to foster mental well-being.
