North Carolina attorney general sues TikTok, ByteDance | North Carolina
SUMMARY: North Carolina Attorney General Josh Stein is suing TikTok, seeking injunctive and monetary relief. He argues the app’s addictive features, such as infinite scroll and algorithmic recommendations, harm children, claiming TikTok misrepresents its safety for kids. The lawsuit, filed in Wake County Superior Court, targets TikTok and its parent company ByteDance, representing North Carolina as the plaintiff alongside other states’ attorneys general. Stein asserts that TikTok’s business practices prioritize profit over child safety, leading to a deceptive environment for parents. Stein previously filed a similar lawsuit against Meta, accusing it of also targeting children.

Chief Meteorologist Chris Justus tracks Hurricane Milton
SUMMARY: A major storm with winds reaching up to 165 mph is heading toward the U.S. coast, prompting evacuation recommendations. The storm, undergoing an eyewall replacement cycle, may strengthen again. Forecasts predict it will make landfall as a Category 4 or possibly a Category 3 hurricane, particularly affecting the Tampa Bay area. The storm is unique as it moves eastward, unlike typical storms, which affects the storm surge locations, with Sarasota and Fort Myers at risk. Cooler temperatures are expected in the Upstate region, with highs in the 70s and lows in the 40s over the coming days.
